We Are Committed to Making the American Dream of Homeownership a Reality for All

In honor of National Homeownership Month, the North Central Jersey Association of Realtors®️ - NCJAR®️ has teamed up with the Paterson Housing Authority and Rev. Dr. David Jefferson Sr., Esq. of The Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark, NJ.

Together, we aim to narrow the racial homeownership gap in New Jersey communities. We are co-hosting a Housing Fair & Expo at the International High School in Paterson on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 9 am to 2 pm, and at the Metropolitan Baptist Church on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 9 am to 2 pm. Paterson is New Jersey’s third most populous city, while Newark is the largest city in Essex County, both within the NCJAR service area. Their proximity to New York City makes these cities prime locations for potential homebuyers.

NCJAR®️ and our partners are dedicated to empowering and engaging the communities of Paterson and Newark with the tools and resources necessary to make the American Dream of homeownership a reality for all New Jerseyans.

According to U.S. Census data, Paterson has a homeownership rate of 26.3%, and Newark has a rate of 23.5%, compared to New Jersey's overall rate of 63.2%. With significant demand for rentals, this demand will only grow with population increases. Creating homeownership opportunities is critical as it drives economic growth, generates jobs, and employs local labor through the design, construction, and rehabilitation of homes. Homeownership also fosters a sense of security and permanence.
